Details

The following building shall be added to the list:

DRIFFIELD SU 09 NE 9/278 Charlham Bridge at NGR SU082999 II Bridge carrying farm track over stream. Possibly C18 but no firm evidence for dating. Limestone. A small, 2-arch bridge over Ampney brook carrying a causeway from the former Driffield Manor to Charlham Farm in Ampney St Peter parish. A central cutwater carries two segmental arches of c 1.5m span with rough stone voussoirs, some of which have fallen out from the north side of the eastern arch. Coursed rubble built up to track level, returned for short distance at north west and south west abutments, and with large roughly dressed coping stones, some dislodged, at the level of the trackway. Bridge is about 3.75m span and c3m wide. An interesting historical survival, on a route now a public footpath but mainly used by farm vehicles.
