GV II

Former rectory. Early-mid C19. Ashlar south and west fronts, otherwise coursed squared and dressed limestone; stone slate roof with ashlar stacks. Basically rectangular plan with further range at right angles at rear. C20 extensiion to the east not of special interest. Two storeys, attic and cellar. Symmetrical 3-windowed entrance front lit by 12-pane sashes (one blind); band between the storeys; parapet with moulded cornice. Central 6-panelled C19 door with the upper 2 panels glazed within a flat-roofed porch with a moulded cornice and low parapet. Two 2-light lead-roofed casements to the attics. Symmetrical 1:3:1-windowed south front lit by 12-pane sashes; band between floors; parapet with moulded cornice; single 3-light lead-roofed dormer. Hipped roofs with off- the-ridge stacks. Interior: open well staircase with stick balusters; decorative brackets to risers and fluted newel post; shutters. Room to the left of the entrance contains a cast iron grate with geometric and floral decoration surrounded by hand-painted tiles depicting pastoral scenes; painted wooden surround decorated with Greek key pattern and egg and dart mouldings; pulvinated frieze with bound oak leaf decoration.
