BAUNTON BAUNTON VILLAGE SP 00 SW 9/25 Downs Farmhouse and adjoining outbuildings 4.6.52 GV II

Former farmhouse. C17, extended C18 in two phases. Coursed squared and dressed limestone, stone slate roof with ashlar, artificial stone and limestone rubble stacks. Rectangular C17 range with longer C18 range running parallel along the former entrance front; outbuildings at right angles to rear of extension to the later range. Both ranges 2 storeys and attic with single- storey wash house/outbuildings adjoining. C17 range; 2 chimney gables facing road. Two and 3-light casements with glazing bars to the gable ends. C18 range: 4-windowed garden (west) front (the right-hand bay being a slightly later addition); tripartite sashes with dressed stone lintels with keystones. C18 door with 6 flush panels (upper 4 panels now glazed) at centre of main body, within a mid C19 porch with highly ornate wrought and cast iron with a curved, hipped canopy. Interior not inspected.
