Former inn, now house at the end of a row. Mid-late C18 with later
extension. Ashlar facade, otherwise coursed roughly squared and
dressed limestone. Stone slate roof. Stumps of ashlar stacks
rebuilt C20 in small blocks of reconstructed stone. Rectangular
plan with a single bay extension at the right gable. Later
extensions rear left. C20 extension rear left not of special
interest. Two storeys, symmetrical, 3-windowed facade lit by 2 and
3-light hollow-chamfered stone-mullioned casements. Band between
floors. Central C19 four-panelled door (with the upper 2 panels
glazed) within a flat-chamfered surround. Gabled open-sided porch
with fluted columns on low pedestals at the front. Pointed finial
at the apex of the porch gable. 1 1/2 storey extension breaks
forwards slightly at the right gable end. Large 3-light metal
casement with transoms to the ground floor. Blocked doorway with a
timber lintel to the left. Rendered 2-light dormer with horizontal
glazing bars to the upper floor. Two-light hollow-chamfered stone
mullioned casement to the left-hand return (possibly reused).
Saddleback coping and kneeler at the gable ends of the main body
(continued down where the later extension projects forwards).
Moulded stone eaves cornice continued around the left gable end.
Gable-end stacks to the main body. Interior not inspected.
Ashlar stone wall across front of and linked to the main body. Low
wall up to 1m in height with a simple cast iron railing at the top.
Pair of ashlar piers with moulded cappings and ball finials at the
centre.
