BARRINGTON MIDDLE ROAD, SP 2012-2112 Little Barrington Village 11/124 Group of six monuments in the churchyard of the Church of St Peter c4-8m east of the church path and porch GV II Group of three chest tombs and three headstones. Limestone. a) Joseph and Ursuly Beauchamp chest tomb, died 1726. Inscription to the above on the north side within a rectangular inscription plaque with a moulded margin. Single winged angel's head above the inscription. Rectangular marginal panels with moulded margins either side. Thick capping with gadrooned margin. b) Headstone cl.5m to east of the latter to James Busby, son of Thomas and Sarah Busby. C18. Single winged angel's head at top with foliate decoration either side. Vine scroll below inscription. c) Thomas Williams chest tomb, c3m south of the latter. Chest tomb to Thomas Williams and other members of that family. C18. Moulded plinth. Three sunken inscription plaques with moulded margins on the south side. The central and larger plaque to Thomas Williams with winged angel's head and top. Smaller inscription plaques to Jane and Ann Williams, first and second wives of the former. Partially legible inscription on the south side, flanked by fielded marginal panels. Capping with moulded margin and a rectangular upper capping stone. d) Pair of headstones c0.5m east of the latter. Right-hand and headstone. Limestone. Illegible inscription. Winged angel's e) head at top. Cartouche-like surround to former inscription. Left-hand headstone. Late C17-early C18. Limestone. Partially legible inscription now partially under ground level. Top of the tomb comprises a pair of scrolls. f) Thomas Heming chest tomb cl.5m south of the latter. C18. Moulded plinth. Inscription on all four sides. Principal inscription on the south side to Thomas with single winged angel's head at top. Baroque surrounding to inscription. Raised foliate scrollwork to the marginal panels. Left-hand marginal panel now badly eroded. Plain inscription on the north side (now partly eroded) to the wife of Thomas Heming. Plain marginal panels. Inscription at east end to Thomas Heming, son of Thomas Heming, within a sunken inscription plaque with an inset segmental head. Similar but illegible inscription plaque at the west end. Capping with moulded margin and hipped upper capping stone with a roll-moulded ridge. Upper surface of capping stone now badly eroded.
