BARRINGTON GREAT BARRINGTON VILLAGE SP 2013-2113 (north side) 10/57 Stable, barn and open-fronted cart shed clOm north of Barrington Farmhouse (formerly listed with 23.1.52 Barrington Farmhouse) GV II Stable block, barn and open-fronted cartshed. Open-fronted cartshed and stable block probably late C18. Stable and barn early-mid C19. Coursed squared and dressed limestone. Mostly stone slate roofing. Slate on west facing roof pitch of the barn. Corrugated asbestos roofing to barn porch. 'L'-shaped plan to range. Cartshed at northern end of the range. Four open bays divided by square dressed stone piers with a continuous timber lintel on the east side. Two 2-light wood casements to the first floor. Access to loft via steps up to a plank door in the west wall. Barn at south gable end. Projecting gabled porch on the west side. C20 extension to porch, not of special interest. Double doorway in wall opposite. Ventilation slits. Interior; 4 bays. Brick threshing floor. Stable block at right angles to barn. Linked to barn by 2-bay store formerly of 2 storeys. Store; single storey (no roof at the time of resurvey, June 1986). Stable block. Two storeys with a symmetrical entrance front with a central plank door with stone lintel with a keystone. Two-light windows either side of the door, one with shutters. Two 2-light wood casements to the first floor. Double flight of steps at the left gable end up to a plank door giving access to the loft. Right end of roof hipped. Flat coping at left gable end. King post roof trusses. (Barrington Park Estate).
