Two cottages and village school. School dated 1874 on shield on
the left gable end. Nos 45 and 46 of a similar date. Coursed
squared and dressed limestone. Stone slate roofing with ashlar
stacks. 'T'-shaped plan to school with cottages flanking the main
entrance. The whole forming a basically rectangular plan.
Symmetrical, 2-storey, 2:3:2-windowed entrance front. Four
original metal casements with leaded panes. Most windows now
wooden casements some with leaded panes some with horizontal
glazing bars. All windows within flat-chamfered surrounds and
stopped hoods. Central C20 part-glazed doorway within a flat-
chamfered surround with a flat hood supported on moulded stone
brackets. Blind window over doorway. C19 plank doors to the right
and left-hand bays. Single panes set in each door. Flat canopies
supported on moulded corbels over each door. Hipped roof with two
axial stacks. School building at rear. Single storey. Five large
3-light wooden casements with transoms and stopped hoods. Similar
windows in the gable ends. Axial and gable-end stacks. Stacks to
both parts with cappings and skirtings.
Interior not inspected. Empty at time of resurvey - June 1986.
