Details
BARRINGTON THE GREEN, SP 2012-2112 Little Barrington Village 11/81 The Black Dog (formerly listed as the Premises immediately north of Hillside) 23.1.52 GV II House adjoining Hillside (q.v.). Coursed squared and dressed limestone. Stone slate roof formerly with ashlar stacks, two restored in reconstituted stone, one repaired in brick. Long rectangular plan with later lean-to extensions at rear. Two storeys wth cellar at the left end. Four-windowed facade. One 2- light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casement with a stopped hood to the first floor. Other windows mostly 9-pane sashes, one 12- pane sash, all within raised dressed stone surrounds, some with keystones. Two C20 nine-pane fixed casements, one within the blocking of a former doorway with stone steps up to former doorway still in situ. One 3-light casement with horizontal glazing bars with a timber lintel. C18 six-panel doorway with a flat stone canopy with a moulded margin supported on moulded stone brackets. Gable-end and axial stacks with moulded skirtings. Interior not inspected. Formerly the Black Dog Inn, then the village shop.
