Details

BARRINGTON BARRINGTON PARK SP 2013-2113 10/25 Building forming part of the western boundary of the churchyard GV II House now used as workshop/store. Mid C17-early C18. Ashlar with a stone slate roof and ashlar stacks. 'U'-shaped plan. Two storeys. Six-windowed front over churchyard, seven-windows to the right-hand return. All windows 2-light casements with leaded panes. Roof hipped where it returns to right. Gable-end and axial stacks with moulded cappings and skirtings. Cross vaulting at centre. Some slates missing from roof at the time of resurvey (June 1986). Interior not accessible, exterior inspection from the churchyard only. The range possibly corresponds to the rear of the C16 manor house of the Brays (damaged by fire in 1736), see illustration by Kip in R. Atkyns The Ancient and Present State of Gloucestershire, 1712.
