SHERBORNE SHERBORNE VILLAGE SP 1714 9/209 Dairy Farm and dairy buildings/ pigsties GV II
Detached house and dairy. Dated 1907 in diamond-shaped stone plaque on projecting stack at left gable end. Coursed squared and dressed limestone. Stone slate roof with ashlar stacks. 'L'- shaped plan with dairy buildings in form of courtyard to right, further rectangular range of farmbuildings on north. House; 1½ storeys. Gable projecting forwards on left with 3-light stone- mullioned casement to first floor and 4-light stone-mullioned casement, door to right with pitched canopy supported on moulded wooden brackets. Four-light stone-mullioned casement right of front door. Four-light. Flat coping and stacks at gable ends. Projecting stack at left gable end. Pointed ridge tiling, flat- roofed roof dormer to upper floor. Dairy buildings project forwards on right. Stable doors to cow stalls opening into courtyard. Three-pane casements. South side of courtyard comprises 5 pigsties with brick walls dividing pens. Cast-iron door at the front of each pen. Cast-iron feeding flaps either side. Triangular ridge tiling. Interior of dairy buildings; ramped cast iron divisions between stalls. Ceramic flooring.
