NORTHLEACH WITH THE MARKET PLACE SP 1114 EASTINGTON (north side), Northleach 8/106 Cotteswold House GV II
House at end of row. C16-early C17 and later C17, facade mid-late C19. Coursed squared and dressed limestone. Stone slate roof, ashlar stacks. Basically rectangular plan. Symmetrical, 3-storey, 3-bay, 2-windowed facade. Two-pane sashes to ground and first floors. Two-light casement and small 2-pane sash to second floor. Bands between floors. Central, fielded, 6-panel door with large C19, former gas-light above. Three-light stone-mullioned casement to first floor of right-hand return. Gable-end stacks. Interior; plank and stud partition (possibly reused) with traces of yellow colour wash with simple black-line decoration. Flat- chamfered, Tudor-arched stone door surround. Remains of early fireplace with rectangular stone surround in front right-hand room (defaced when plastered in but now uncovered). Moulded tie beam and remains of stone spiral staircase in same room. Basket-headed C16-early C17 stone fireplace with carved spandrels, each decorated with a small shield, left-hand shield defaced, right-hand shield decorated with initial 'P'.
