Details
EASTINGTON CHURCHEND SO 7805 13/60 Former stable and coach house at Eastington Park GV II Former stable and coach block. Probably c1806 to c1815, contemporary with Eastington Park (q.v.) built for Henry Hicks, local mill owner. Coursed and dressed stone, hipped bitumenised slate roof, moulded stone eaves cornice. Large central slightly projecting gable with kneelers and flat top, segmental relieving arch with recessed tympanum over large double doors. Two doors and two 2-light windows to each side, alternately, with doors flanking central element, originally all with paired pointed arch tracery in semi-circular heads. Door immediately to left has concrete lintel and stone infill over, and door to far right has straight glazing bars in fanlights. All doors in tongue and groove panelling renewed. The building is linked by a tall stone wall to the main house. Interior not inspected.
