Details

EASTINGTON ALKERTON SO 7705 12/38 Alkerton Grange 10.1.55 GV II Detached house. Early C18, enlarged to south in later C18, and with C20 flat-roofed rear wing not of special interest. Brick on stone plinth, concrete tile roof hipped to south, scattered brick stacks. Originally single range of 2 storeys with 2 small wings on north side, enlarged and refaced on south side to form L-shape. Main elevation to south west has gable end to left on older fabric with three 12-pane sashes to each floor, with wide glazing bars to top windows under cambered brick heads, and renewed to ground floor with cambered heads. Glazed round oculus in apex. Later wing to right has parapet wall, 5 windows, 12-pane sashes with splayed rubbed brick voussoirs, 4 to ground floor with 6-panel door to left, top 4 fielded and lower 2 flush, with decorative glazed transom light. Some windows blacked out. Opposite elevation has similar fenestration and door with more elaborate carved doorcase with dentil cornice on consoles, and 2 hipped dormers. Interior contains fine wreathed and ramped baluster stair and much original panelling, joinery and locks.
