12/73 Barn and cartshed at Priory Farm approximately 70m south west of Priory House (previously listed as 28.6.60 Large Barn immediately to west of Priory House (Remains of Priory) GV II
Part of Scheduled Ancient Monument No 360. Former tithe barn, now barn and cartsheds. C13 or C14; C17 and later additions. Random rubble and dressed limestone; roughcast render; stone slate roof; corrugated asbestos and pantile to lean-to roofs. Barn of 6 or 7 bays with east porch and lean-to additions; large cartshed at south end. East side: central gabled porch with timber lintel to doorway; render over with weatherboarding in apex containing pigeon holes; gabled lantern to columbarium with horizontal openings. Open-fronted lean-to to right of porch with timber posts; concrete block lean-to to left. Open end of cartshed to left wth high hipped roof. North end: parapet gabled with trefoil-enriched saddle stone. Large C14 opening with Decorated tracery, mullion missing; round-arched opening below with small trefoil-headed recess to left, both blocked. Finely carved saddle stone to south parapet gabled end of barn. West side: central doorway with timber lintel; slit vents either side. End of cart shed projects right with large plank doors and timber lintel. Interior not accessible for inspection at time of survey (November 1985). Forms part of Priory Farm grouping with church.
