II
Large detached farmhouse. Early C17 with later C17 wing; altered late C18; extended and altered C19. Timber framed on limestone plinth; partly re-faced in coursed and squared limestone; most timber framing rendered over; stone slate roof with clay plain tile to reverse slopes; stone chimney rendered over. Lobby entry 2-room 2-storey with cross wing of 2 storeys and attic; further 2-storey cross-wing at north end; 2-storey porch added to front. West elevation: small framing to main range and projecting gabled cross- wing, framing in cross wing off centre as side elevation brought forward, and Cl9 stone facade returning to gable end; scattered fenestration to gable end mostly C18 casements but very small 12- pane sash to attic with moulded architrave in rendered gable; side of wing to left has 1 small original window with timber diamond mullions; small area of wattle and daub survives above. Main range has altered fenestration and has C20 projecting hipped roofed stair turret built out at upper floor level; 1 original leaded casement to ground floor and blocked doorway to right now with C19 or C20 casement. Wing to left is early C19 single-storey dairy, increased to 2-storey later: brick gable end chimney; cambered-arched timber casements, scattered in north east elevation. South elevation, now exposed stonework but formerly rendered, is C19 re-facing: 2-window fenestration with C20 altered glazed doorway; sash to right and to upper floor; 16 pane sash over doorway. East front: C19 brick 2- East front: C19 brick 2- storey gabled porch has 6-panel door and C19 sash over; central rendered ridge chimney stack with moulded stone cap; gable end to cross wing left of porch with single-window fenestration; sashes to ground and upper floors and small 16-pane attic sash above; 2- window sash fenestration to right of porch with elevation stepping back between windows indicating C19 addition; roof hipped in east corner. Interior altered in C20 but central stone chimney stack and most timber framing remains intact. C19 iron railings and square ashlar piers run along road frontage.
