Downhouse Farmhouse
II
Farmhouse. C18, much remodelled in C19. Rubble, but some good dressed and squared work to west gable, Welsh slate roof. Broad frontage, two deep wings, back, forming reversed U-plan, C19 ashlar stacks to gables plus heavy stack back, right, to ridge of wing. West gable has buttress or respond at back angle. Two storeys and attic, 4-windowed, modern 2 or 3-light casements, except first floor, left, 2-light C19 casement. Off-centre, right, 6-panel door, of which 2 glazed, with late C20 glazed porch. Gable, left, 2 small 2-light casements, wood lintols, ground floor and single light above. Wing beyond this in dressed stone and with roof part stone slate.
Interior: ground floor, right, large open fireplace, stone hearth and heavy stone cheeks. Some C18 moulded panel doors and shutters.
