Details
PAINSWICK PAINSWICK HOUSE SO 8610/8710 6/250 The Stables, Painswick House GV II
Probably late C17 for earlier house on site, modified C20. Stable block, now house. Fire coursed and squared limestone, stone slate front slope and concrete tile back slope to roof. An H plan, symmetrical with hipped wings, and a C20 continuous lean-to extension at back, now completely converted to domestic use. One storey and attic; 2:2:2 windows plain chamfer cross-mullioned casements and central plain glazed doors in flat 3-centred arch under a flat pediment with round oculus and a ball finial. The right return has two blocked 3-centred arch openings now with C20 windows. On the returns of the wings at the front are pairs of glazed doors in 3-centred arches. There are 2 laylights each in front and back roof slopes and a C20 dormer at the back.
