PAINSWICK PAINSWICK HOUSE SO 8610/8710 6/261 Ram house, c.30 m south east of plunge pool GV II* Remains of ram house for water control. c.1750, possibly by Thomas Robins. Limestone and brick. A small circular structure with brick saucer dome, mostly now underground; entrance approached by steps between ramped sides. May be remains of more prominent conduit house depicted on Thomas Robins' 1748 drawing of the garden layout Now retains importance as element in an important surviving rococo ensemble, although mostly concealed by earth covering.
