PAINSWICK NEW STREET SO 8609 (part) (south-east side) 9/197 Lander monument c.16 m north-west of north west corner of tower in the churchyard of the Church of St Mary
GV II
Pedestal tomb. Mid C18. Limestone. Oblong plan with inset corners, flat top to moulded edge including egg and dart enrichment, very high relief panel to west, much worn, and rectangular panel to east; cartouche to south and hori- zontal ellipse, north; on moulded base and flat sub-base. The 1879 survey records George Lander, 1762: he was a mercer. Some C20 repairs have been made. Ellis Marsland noted that this was a monument designed by John Bryan (qv Bryan monument).
