Details

PAINSWICK EDGE SO 80 NE 5/61 Congregational Chapel with front railings GV II Congregational chapel. c.1865. Limestone, ashlar, Welsh slate roof. Pedimen- ted front with 4 pilasters carrying moulded entablature and with moulded pediment cornice. Central 4-panel door under radial fanlight in raised surround with imposts, under a panel with sunk edge; to each side 15-pane sashes with radial heads in flat raised surrounds with imposts. Incised line to pediment containing circular panel with ventilating edge. To left are 4 round-arched 15-pane sashes and radial heads. At back are 2 joined octagonal stacks. Interior gutted. Running full width of front and returned to it, close-spaced spear head railings set to plinth; central small double gate with simple over- throw. A bold and well detailed facade to the street.
