GV II

Large house on street corner. C17, C18 and early c19, much modified. Part
limestone ashlar, part coursed and squared; stone slate roofs, but concrete tile
to Friday Street. An L-plan block, probably as two dwellings, but now one; low
wing set back from street runs down slope to south. Two storeys and attic.
South front 2 windows, much varied: at ground floor two small lights flanking a
part-glazed door, and a late C19 canted bay with margin bar sashes, at first
floor a pair of 2-light casements to concrete lintel, and a 3-light recessed
chamfer mullion casement under stopped hood. Two large 3-light C20 gable
dormers. North front, to Friday Street in two parts, that to left with a
2-light and 3-light casement under common hood mould, but no central door, and a
3-light left, above: these all recessed chamfer mullion. Slightly set back, to
right, a one bay unit with a 16-pane sash at ground and first floors, and a C20
door, left, under stone lintel and in chamfered surround. To right gable a
brick stack, and to left a large external stack, and a 1-light recessed chamfer
casement with hood, at first floor. The outer gable, which is coped, is higher
than the roof slope. Wing contains garage door. Interior not inspected.
