Large detached house. Major rebuilding c1800 for William Cockin, rector of Minchinhampton, possibly incorporating rear wing of previous house. Ashlar limestone front and sides, coursed rubble to rear; ashlar chimneys; stone slate roof. Two-storey with long rear wing; double-pile plan. Front: 7-window fenestration in symmetrical elevation, all 12-pane sashes in plain openings. Central 2-storey bow has 3 sashes to upper floor above circular porch having attached and 2 detached Doric columns; round arched doorway with C20 panelled door and round arched recess between attached columns. Plain upper floor level band. Moulded cornice with blocking course. Hipped U-plan roof with 4 ridge-mounted chimneys. East side: 2-window fenestration to main range as to front. Five 8-pane upper floor sashes to wing with sill band. Mixed fenestration to ground floor includes 2 later C19 two-light casements with arched heads. Plain cornice band and blocking course; mid C19 eaves-mounted chimney with octagonal shaft and tapering cap. Rear: tall round arched stair sash. Mixed fenestration to lower wing to right. Principal wing has round arched ground floor and lunette upper floor openings, some blocked others with various windows. Interior: principal rooms have reeded doorcase architraves. Plaster cornices have reeding and leaf bands. One room has classical fireplace with attached Ionic columns. Hall has plasterwork decoration in round arched recesses above doorcases and 3-centred dividing archway. Open well staircase with cantilevered stone treads and plain balustrade. The Lammas is very similar in style to Atcombe Court (Woodchester CP) and Barton End Hall (Horsley CP, q.v.) all possibly by the same designer. Barn to north (q.v.) and stables beyond (q.v.).
