20/153 Tickmorend House
II
Detached house. Late Cl7, refronted c1830. Coursed rubble front, random rubble sides and rear; ashlar chimneys; stone slate roof. Two-storey with attic; two 2-storey rear outshuts. Front: 3- window fenestration, all 12-pane sashes with stone lintels. Right- of-centre doorway with 6-panel door and later Cl9 gabled porch on slender octagonal section iron posts. Three hipped dormers. Two ridge-mounted chimneys with chamfered caps. Short length of screen wall to left with square-headed doorway. East end: line of original steeper gable visible in masonry. Single-window fenestration, 12-pane sash to ground floor, blocked 3-light to upper floor, blocked 2-light to attic, both with hoods removed. Small blocked single-light to right, possibly originally lighting spiral stair. East side of outshut has small ground floor casement with 'DAIRY' wooden plaque on timber lintel. Rear: 2 outshuts with lean-to roof, one almost obscuring central upper floor leaded casement. Interior: generally refitted c1830, beams being chamfered with bar stops. One outshut retains small bread oven.
