5/11 Upper Battlescombe Farmhouse
GV II
Detached farmhouse. Mid C18; early C19 addition. Random rubble limestone; ashlar and concrete block rebuilt chimneys; stone slate roof. Two-storey with attic. Front: 2-window fenestration to original house to left, all timber framed with leaded iron casements and timber lintels. Central C19 gabled porch with double plank doors; small round arched porch side windows. Addition to right with single 12-pane sash in plain opening to each floor. Three ridge-mounted chimneys. West end: off-centre doorway with stone lintel; leaded attic casement. Outshut to rear. Interior: not inspected but panelled shutters to front sashes still in place. A relatively intact example of a farmhouse of this date with original fenestration. Forms part of group with barn (q.v.) and stable with cartshed (q.v.).
