MAISEMORE MAIN ROAD SO 8021-8121 (north side) 8/72 Milestone Cottage GV II Small house. C17, altered C19, minor alterations late C20. Two bays, 1 1/2 storeys, one room deep: lean-to on gable. Flemish bond painted brickwork front wall, stone plinth, brick-nogged timber- framing back wall, concrete plain tile roof. To road: boarded door, glass panel in top half, cambered brick arch, to left of centre. Either side 3-light casement with cambered brick arch. Rendered end of right gable frames front on right, end earlier brick gable on left: to left beyond gable of large lean-to with clay tile roof. Two-light casement in lean-to dormer above: brick chimney on ridge at left gable, external brick chimney on right. Framing to rear wall 2 panels high with angle brace from corner post to wallplate. Interior: exposed chamfered joists to ceiling, room on right; wide chamfer to ceiling beams, room on left. Original boarded door and hinges first floor: part timber-framed truss in right gable survives: one pair purlins, originally with windbraces. Roof said to have been thatched until 1938.
