MAISEMORE OLD ROAD SO 8021-8121 (east side) 8/76 The Orchard and Gable Cottage GV II Two attached cottages. C17, C18, altered mid and late C20. Brick-nogged timber framing. English bond brickwork to right end bay; left house (Gable Cottage) asbestos slate roof, right house tiled. Four bays, 1 1/2 storeys, one room deep. Facing road, 3- light 1985 casement in earlier opening, cambered brick arch: timber-framing to left, straight brace main post to wallplate, 2- light similar casement. Main post to left with braces both ways to wallplate, brick nogging to left painted. Two-light C20 metal casement; fully-glazed door under gabled hood on slim front posts, gable boarded. Three-light casement to left, straight brace corner post to wallplate. Lean-to dormer with 2-light C20 casement to right of door. External brick chimney right return; lateral chimney to rear left house: left gable probably originally half-hip, top being boarded. Three-bay house extended one bay on right, probably as single dwelling, later subdivided.
