Small detached cottage. Probably C17. Timber framed, some coursed lime- stone, gable to road in brick. Thatched roof in two levels with cut stone stack at junction but 7-course brick top stage, half-hip to road. 2 storeys 1-windowed to road, 3-light casements under wood lintols, main front, right return has 4 casements continuous in main framing over 2+4+2-light casements far gable timber-framed with wattle and daub, small fixed light to roof space, over 2-light casement, then C20 one-storey extension. Late C20 porch and door on west front. Interior includes large bressummer fire opening. This was probably a labourer's cottage at the heart of the original village; associated with the old church, now represented only by its tower (qv).
