SP 02 28 WINCHCOMBE HAILES STREET (west side) 4/128 No 12 (formerly listed as 4.7.1960 No 18)

GV II

House and shop in row. C16 and C17 with C19 front. Smooth rendered on timber framing to first floor, stone slate roof, gable to street with C19 decorative barge board and bottom chord; much of the back of the premises is in good dressed limestone. A long narrow building probably built together with No 10 (q.v.) Street front two storeys one window, 3-light C19 casement in damaged surround over plate glass shop front in C19 surround with consoles and dentilled fascia; glazed door under 4-pane transome light, right. A middle room has king-mullion 3 + 3-light stone chamfer mullion window looking into former throughway to No 10 (q.v), and a further light with chamfered surround at back gable. Some timber framing in upper floor on north side. Interior very often modified includes stone cross-vaulted cellar, deep, part- rebuilt heavy bressummer fireplace heavy beam and joist floors, and a small semicircular beaded opening adjacent to central fireplace. Some work of modification in progress at the time of survey, August 1983.
