PAINSWICK VICTORIA STREET SO 8609 (part) (north side)
8/348 St Michael's Restaurant GV II House in row, now with restaurant. C17 and C19 or C20. Coursed and squared limestone, stone slate roof to front, concrete tile or Welsh slate to back. Normal frontage eaves to street, but long deep wing to back, left. Two storeys and attic, 2-window; at first and second floors are 3-light chamfer mullion stone casements with stopped hoods, all Cl9 or C20, and a 2-light half-dormer centred above. Central C20 plank door under flat stone hood to moulded edge, on consoles. Various casements to back. Interior retains one deep-chamfered and stopped beam, now in two parts separated by later staircase; also, to left are two 2-light C17 chamfer-mullion stone casements set in deep embrasures, now blanked by adjoining Town Hall (q.v.). Under the front part of the back wing is a stone vaulted cellar approached by stone staircase.
