17/206 Washpool II

House. Early C17, extended late C17-early C18. Coursed roughly squared and dressed limestone; stone slate roof; brick stacks. 'T'-shaped plan. West front with early range to the left, later range projects forwards to the right. Two 3-light ovolo-moulded stone-mullioned casements with stopped hoods to the ground floor of the main body; early timber-framed dormer with cove, lit by a C20 three-light casement at eaves; 2-light eaves dormer to the right; small single-light raking dormer upper right; C19 studded plank door within a flat-chamfered Tudor-arched surround to the left of the projecting gable. Four-light C20 ovolo-moulded stone- mullioned casement to the ground floor; 2-light ovolo-moulded stone-mullioned casement above. South front with two 2-light and one single-light flat-chamfered stone-mullioned casement to the ground floor. Three 2-light eaves dormers. Plank door with single pane at top off centre left. Two-light casement to gable end of earlier range visible above ridge. All windows with leaded panes, some with early fastenings. Half-hip to gable ends of the late Cl7-early C18 extension. Chimney gablet to rear of early range; projecting gable-end stack to same range, axial stack to later range. Interior not inspected but the older range contains square-panelled timber-framed partition walls.
