5/189 John Attwood monument in the churchyard of the Church of St Nicholas c5m north of the chancel

GV II

Large headstone to John Attwood, died 1830 and Elizabeth his wife, died 1826, probably by Holder of Tewkesbury (William Tyler monument q.v.). Circular roundel with two angels holding a crown and palm fronds at top; foliate scrollwork either side; small roundels containing baskets of wheat upper right and left; reeded marginal panels with orb finials. Rare example of a skillfully decorated headstone in good condition.
