7/97 Upper Farmhouse with stableblock
II
Farmhouse and adjoining stableblock. Mid-late C17. Square- panelled timber-framing with rendered infill, on a coursed squared and dressed limestone plinth; concrete and red tile roofing probably formerly thatched; stump of an ashlar stack rebuilt in brick. Stable coursed squared and dressed limestone with a red tile roof. Rectangular plan to main body with later lean-to extension to rear. Stableblock at the left gable end of the main body. House: 1½ storeys. Stable: 2 storeys. West front with gable off-centre left: C20 two-light wooden casement far left; early C19 canted bay lit by three 12-pane sashes; plank door with thumb latch; pair of C20 casements. Two 2-light eaves dormers with C20 casements flanking a steeply pitched gable with slightly canted C20 three-light casement. Entrance now via a plank door towards the right end of the stable block. Stableblock with two plank doors and three 2-light casements. Interior of house: beams with stepped stops; open fireplace with bressumer beam; carved face within alcove to the left of the fire.
