4/31 Nos 1-4 inclusive (Witcombe Court) II

Large house, now divided into four. Early-mid C19. Pebbledashed front, painted brick at the rear; slate roofing. Rectangular plan. Central part 3 storeys with cellar flanked by 2-storey wings. Symmetrical 1:3:1 windowed facade. Twenty-pane sashes to the ground floor; 16-pane sashes above each; 12-pane sash over the entrance porch; 12-pane sashes with horns to the second floor. Tripartite sashes to the ground floor of the wings, one a C20 imitation; 12-pane sashes, one a C20 imitation, to the first floor. Parapet with moulded cornice. Central fielded 6-panel door with fanlight with an open-sided porch with fluted columns at the front and at the rear with laurel wreath decorations at each end. Round-headed stairlight with marginal glazing bars at the rear. Access to No 4 via a flat-roofed porch within a probably reused C18 eared architrave. Hipped roofs; parapet with moulded cornice at the front.
