4/63 Caretaker's Residence at the entrance to Ullenwood Manor
GV II
Lodge to Ullenwood Manor. Built c1875 by Mr. William Hall as part of the Ullenwood Manor estate, created for his daughter. 'T'- shaped plan. Rock-faced limestone with dressed stone quoins; slate roof with ashlar stacks. 1½ - 2½ storeys. Entrance front facing the drive: canted 5-light bay window with flat-chamfered mullions and transom; small rectangular window with a flat- chamfered surround to the shaped gable above. Part-glazed panelled door set back within a moulded 4-centred arched surround with a moulded hood and head stops to the right. North front, facing the road with shaped gable projecting forwards to the left; 3-light window with mullions and transoms to the ground floor; string above with large lion and sheep-like grotesques at each corner. Plain heraldic shield with strapwork surround above the string of the gable; single-light with flat-chamfered surround towards the apex of the gable. Pierced finials at the apex of each gable. Parapet with pierced strapwork. Gable-end and axial stacks with circular shafts and moulded cappings. Interior not inspected.
