Details

BUCKLAND LAVERTON VILLAGE SP 0635-0735 10/20 Top Farm Farmhouse GV II Farmhouse. Probably C17; extended c1930, altered late C20. Roughly squared, coursed stone; stone slate roof. Four-window front, one-room deep, 2 1/2 storeys; rear wing forming T plan. Front: windows stone-mullioned, plain chamfer, hoodmoulds. To left, close to corner 2-light window; 4-light with king mullion by boarded door, up single stone step, deep stone lintel with very flat arch on underside, hoodmould; 'T S 16 + 1775' in pecked holes on lintel. Four-light window to right with king mullion; double French doors, hoodmould. First floor 2-light window each end; two 3-light in middle. Parapet gable left, 4 gabled dormers, 2-light casements; parapet gable right end with ridge chimney; further ridge chimney to right of front door, and one bay from left end, all with moulded caps. Interior, wide fireplace with timber lintel in chimneys to right and left of front door. Forms group with stables (q.v.). House extended one bay on right c1930, to match.
