8/47 Nos 1,2,3 and 4 (The Barracks) -

GV II

Cl7, C18. L-shaped block, of 2 attached timber-framed structures, with front clad in brickwork dated 1721. 3 windows to front. Red tile roof, ½-hipped at ends, with catslide on north side (with 2 dormers), a massive stack (one shafted) to each frame unit. The internal rear angle has exposed timber framing with brick-nogging and brickwork to lower walls (some of old small bricks). The east walls is mainly of old brickwork. The (west) front and south gable is C18 brickwork in Flemish bond, with 1st floor band, cambered ground-floor openings, plinth, the upper part of the south gable having flush blue headers with the large figures 1721. Casements, old square-leaded lights at the rear, modern diagonal leaded lights at the front. Plain doors in solid frames.
