SU63-6451(part) BASINGSTOKE LONDON ROAD 3/21 Golding House - II

C18. A 2-storeyed house with 3 important elevations, surrounding an older core. The east facade of 2.3.2 windows has a recessed centre filled on the ground floor with a flat roofed verandah. The yellow brick walling in Flemish bond has rubbed flat arches (arched windows to 1st floor of centre), stone cills, plinth; the parapet has a coping stone and a flat band of rosettes (Coade stone). Sashes in reveals with inner folding shutters, the verandah is in stone with an entablature resting on 2 plain columns and end pilasters (Tuscan Order), on 2 stone steps. The central doorway has an architrave enclosing a fanlight and glazed door. The north (road side) elevation has 2.1.1 windows, with Venetian ground floor lights on either side of the doorway in the projecting unit. Sashes. The doorcase has a full entablature, with small modillion and pulvinated frieze. Doric pilaster enclosing a modern window. The facing, of yellow mathematical tiles, has been temporarily removed. The south elevation is of 3.3.3 windows the centre section being bow shaped, with C20 west section, the walling treatment continues round the 3 sides but there is tile and a slate roofing, a few delicate wrought-iron window boxes to the upper floor.
