COLLEGE STREET 1. 1501 (West Side) Nos 40 & 42 No 44 (The Good Intent public house) SU 7423 3/121 II 2. Range of Cl6 buildinigs with projecting wing at right forming the public rooms of the "Good Intent" and probably of C18 origin though much restored, with renewed tiled roof and tile-hung gable end to street, This section, of 2 storeys and attic, has C18 sash windows with glazing bars on 1st floor, and modern 4-light window on ground floor which is of brick. 2-storey older part under high pitched, undulating tiled roof in centre; and early C18 left section (No 40) of 2 storeys, 1 window in brick. The roof of this part, high pitched and hipped at left, renewed in modern tile, and doors and windows also renewed. Centre section shows square timber framing with brick filling and has 3 windows. (No 42 and part of No 44), Flush framed modern casements. Plain plank doors in wood box frames. 1 C18 sliding sash window on ground floor right. Inside visible square framing and many beams, some with stopped chamfers. Narrow newel staircase, old oak plank floors and 1 close-studded room.
