THE CAUSEWAY 1. 1501 (West Side) The Grange SU 7422 5/91 29.7.49. II 2. Second quarter of C18. Large, L-shaped, 2 storey house. Outer walls of galleted malmstone with heavy, dressed stone quoins. 7 windows on main, North front are sashes with glazing bars in stone surrounds with keystones. Door of six fielded and beaded panels has cornice head and fanlight with glazing bars in pedimented classical doorway. West front has similar treatment and has slightly projecting centre section with carriag entrance under alternating block round arch, now blocked. Inner walls are of galleted walmstone with brick dressings. Segmental arches to windows, sashes on south wall, casements on east wall. Hipped, tiled roof with 2 old chimneys of narrow bricks along the several new ones which were added when the house was converted to flats.
