AWBRIDGE DANES ROAD SfT 32 SW 2/9 Awbridge Danes Estate Coach house, dovecote and 4.3.86 linking wall at Awbridge Danes
GV II
Coach house, dovecote and linking wall. 1822-5 by W Garbett. Rendered brick and stone dressings, slate roofs. Plan of round dovecote in corner of courtyard with wall running towards house to T-shaped coach house of 1 1/2 storey, 3 bays with wing in centre projecting into courtyard. Dovecote of 2 storeys has Gothic door and coved plaster eaves to conical roof with open cupola containing bell. Hall has in centre 2 gabled and buttressed gatepiers 4m high with 3m infill wall between and 2m of wall each side. Old estate maps show these gatepiers to have been original entrance to courtyard. Coach house has Gothic double doors in end facing dovecote. In projecting bay Gothic door, glazed in middle, and tall leaded Gothic window over, under hood mould. Similar window in other bay. Coved plaster eaves to overhanging gables. Stacks on front of roof of end bay and above centre bay.
