8/43 Arford Road/Picketts Hill Boundary walls and gates to Arford House and Arford Lodge
GV II
A series of walls and entrances. Early C19. At this point the roadway drops steeply, and curves in front of the buildings. From the west side there is a high stone wall abutting the narrow roadway. A wood gate and gate piers is centred on the entrance to Arford House, and on its east side is a low stone wall, surmounted by a wrought-iron rail. The section in front of the stable yard has a wide opening, with wooden gates, flanked by stone piers with ball finials; at each side is a section of stone wall ending in taller piers, crowned by finials; at the west side the pier adjoins the section of rails; at the east side the wall turns at right angles (from the pier) to meet the stable block.
