II

Millhouse and barn. C18, early and late C19. Brick and tile. House associated with a mill, which was attached and stood across the race, with a small timber-framed barn, now attached as a service building. The west elevation is symmetrical, of 2 storeys 2 windows (the former central entrance now filled); hipped roof with brick dentil eaves, red brick walling of Flemish bond, slate- covered plinth. Sashes in exposed frames. The south elevation has the side of the original house (of 1 window) with a late C19 extension of 3 windows, in similar style, now containing the entrance, within a timber-framed gabled porch. The barn has 3 bays, with a later lower eastward extension; ½-hipped roof (one C20 dormer), exposed frame with brick, infill and irregular openings. The north side is irregular, with patching where the wall once abutted; the inside of the house at this point having light timber framework.
