8/18 Itchen Stoke Mill

II

Mill with attached millers cottage. C18. Brick with old plain tiled roof. 2 storey, 3 bay millers cottage with 3 bay mill to right with right bay over mill race and 2 bay store to right of that, part being on a higher level than the part to the right of it, and is stepped forward of it. Door to cottage was in right bay, replaced by window. Door now in centre bay of mill with offset brick buttresses either side. All windows C20 oak framed with leaded lights and camber heads. Right bay of mill has brick arch over mill stream with small window to light wheel. Store has stable type door at centre, square window on 1st floor, and offset and toothed eaves. Ridge stacks at each end of millers cottage and later stack inserted over right bay of mill. Each roof separate with step-up gable wall between each.
