Details

SK 43 SW PARISH OF ELVASTON BORROWASH ROAD 2/24 (West Side) Stable Block to East of The Kennels at Elvaston Castle GV II Stable block. 1870. Built for the Earl of Harrington. Red brick with blue and yellow brick dressings. Slate roofs with blue and yellow brick dentilled eaves. Three bays and single storey. Gabled central bay has pilaster strips to either side with dentilled tops and a central semi-circular headed doorcase with plank door and tall divided overlight. Above this is a datestone inscribed 'AD 1870' and above again there is a small circular opening. To either side there are lower lean-to type bays, each with a segmental headed doorcase, plus stable door and divided overlight. Included for group value only.
