Details

SK 21 NE PARISH OF CAULDWELL MAIN STREET 3/7 (East Side) Priory Farmhouse II

Farmhouse. 1815. Red brick, with hard facing bricks to front elevation, and gauged brick dressings. Hipped slate roof with wide eaves and brick side wall stacks to front, plain tile roof with brick ridge and gable stacks, plus sawtooth eaves band to rear. Three storeys and three bays, with L-plan. Central stone steps lead up to Tuscan doorcase with open pediment, panelled door and traceried fanlight. To either side there are glazing bar sashes and above there are three similar shallower sashes. Above again three further, shallower similar sashes. All windows have flat arches. Rear wing has cambered headed casement windows and door, plus an inserted terracotta datestone inscribed 'TP 1815'. Interior has elegant stick baluster staircase with wreathed handrail through two floors, and reeded cornices and door surrounds to front rooms, plus original fireplaces. Rear wing has large inglenook fireplace with moulded mantleshelf.
