Details
PARISH OF NEWTON SOLNEY FARM LANE SK 22 SE 2/49 Newton Park Farmhouse GV II Farmhouse. Early C19. Rendered brick, Welsh slate roof with two ridge stacks and a gable stack to lower west range. Two storeys. Plain plinth, first floor and eaves bands. South elevation of four bays. Doorway under wedge lintel, with panelled door and semi-circular overlight. To the right is a glazing bar sash under wedge lintel and to the left a 3-light casement under wedge lintel. Three glazing bar sashes under wedge lintels. Lower bay to left has a 3-light casement to ground floor and 2-light above, both under wedge lintels. East elevation has two glazing bar sashes to ground and first floor and a 3-light casement in the gable, set between the lower windows. All have wedge lintels. Interior has an open string stick baluster staircase with carved tread ends. The house is said to have been built as a shooting lodge for Earl of Chesterfield.
