Details

PARISH OF FINDERN MAIN STREET SK 33 SW 1/29 (South Side) 30.6.82 No 17 Somerville House and attached out- building GV II

House and outbuilding. Mid C18 and C19. Red brick with plain tile roof. Brick gable stack and a stack just off the ridge. Dentil cornice. Two storeys. Symmetrical north elevation of five bays. Central C19 brick porch. Inner doorway has wedge brick lintel and a C20 door and overlight. Flanked on each side by two glazing bar sashes with wedge lintels. Five similar windows above. Low C19 wall and iron railings running the length of the front. Inside is an open string staircase with two turned balusters per tread, with a moulded and ramped handrail. Carriageway attached to left with pitched tiled roof, linked to a brick barn with Welsh slate roof. This has to the north, four tiers of blocked breathers, a window at half height with a door above, and two windows beneath the eaves.
