A terrace of 3 houses; Nos 77 and 78 now offices. Early C19; rebuilt on an older site by William Steggles, builder, for the Guildhall Feoffment Trust. White brick; slate roof with a paired bracketed eaves soffit. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and cellars; Nos 77 and 78 are single fronted, No.76 double fronted. 5 window range: 12-pane sashes in plain reveals with flat gauged arches. A brick band between the storeys. 3 recessed 6-panel doors in doorways with segmental brick surrounds have segmental fanlights with curved glazing-bars and recessed columns. 2 end and 2 internal chimney-stacks have plain narrow shafts. INTERIOR: no features above ground are earlier than the early C19, but the cellars of Nos 77 and 78 have walling which includes flint, old brick and stone blocks. The ceiling of No.78 has re-used timbers with mortices for diamond mullioned windows, probably from the earlier houses on the site.
