Former National Girls' School. Dated 1845. Horizontally tooled ashlar gritstone, with ashlar dressings, plinth, moulded cornice with blocking course, coped Dutch gable to porch, crow-stepped gables, and a concrete tiled roof.
Two storeys and three bays, with an advanced two storey gabled porch which has shallow corner piers. Central doorway with moulded ashlar surround, and a three-centred arched lintel beneath a hood mould with label stops. Above is a dated rectangular plaque, and, above that, a quatrefoil opening. Flanking the porch are bays with stacked tall three-light chamfered mullioned windows, each light with a three-centred arched head, all beneath a hood mould with label stops. The corners to this elevation have shallow diagonal buttresses which terminate at first floor window head height. C20 planked door to doorway, and leaded lights to all window openings. The plaque above the doorway is inscribed: 'Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it (Prov.XXII.6) In Dei laudem, et in ijujusqe parochiae usum hanc scholam dedicabit'.
