GV II

House and wall to garden in front. Early/mid C19. Probably stone with a blocked-out smooth cement render; slate roof, gabled at ends; rendered end stacks with several chimney pots. 4-room double depth plan with a central passage and 2 principal front rooms. 3 storeys. Symmetrical 3-bay front with deep eaves at the front with eaves brackets. Projecting flat-roofed central porch with glazed sides and pilasters with sunk panels; 2-leaf half-glazed outer door; deep panelled reveals to inner door. Flanking 3-storey canted bay windows with moulded cornices; ground floor windows 2-pane sashes; first floor windows 8-pane central sashes; flanked second floor windows 2 over 4 pane sashes by 4 pane sashes flanked by 1-over 2-pane sashes. The 2 windows in the central bay have floating cornices; first floor window a 12 pane sash; second floor window 3 over 6-pane sash. On the left and right returns small lunette windows on the second floor. Western House is slightly set back from Fore Street with a low grey limestone rubble wall in front of the house.
